Last December, May and Ellis released festive single One Beautiful Christmas Day and Express.co.uk had a chance to catch up with the singer.
During our chat, we asked about future projects for the pair and the 41-year-old shared how they’re working on a new album together.
Ellis said: “Ironically, before the first lockdown we were in the studio three songs into a new album.
“This [Christmas song] was to put something out, keep the interest out there, and then hopefully when we can get back into the studio again we’ll carry on with that!”

Ellis added: “It’s been difficult but we’re on the road to a new album…hopefully sometime next year maybe.”

After an incredible start to 2020 with a string of concerts in Asia and Oceania, Queen and Adam Lambert were looking forward to the UK and European leg of their Rhapsody tour. However, the pandemic saw those concerts, including a 10 night residency at London’s The O2, rescheduled to 2021. And now Brian May, Roger Taylor and the singer are “heartbroken” to announced that they are having to postpone their highly-anticipated tour to summer 2022.

There, the band performed Queen’s iconic 1985 Live Aid set in full. This section kicks off with Bohemian Rhapsody and Radio Ga Ga before Freddie’s Ay Ohs are sung along to by the audience.

Meanwhile, this year marks the 50th anniversary of Queen’s classic line-up, when John Deacon joined the band as bassist in 1971.

Having been forced to postpone their UK and European tour dates in 2020, Queen and Adam Lambert are set to perform those dates this summer.
