Was not the case several hours ago. This woman took video of a white big rig that got lost at the dead end at 37th street. The big rid hit a power pole and the wires fell across both areas of 880 between high and fruit roll around 1220. He keeps trying to back out. People are telling him to make a u turn but he would not listen and tried to back out. When he backed out, he hit the pole. The truck driver left the scene. She showed the video to the chp and the Highway Patrol and Oakland Police had made contact with the driver. Both southbound and northbound driver came to a standstill where traffic is bad to begin with. Luckily this happened before the start of the rush hour and no motorists were hurt. Pg e crews removed the wires including from underneath this car on the southbound side. The c hp opened the free way at 1 40. They have had blasts and avalanches and problems keeping the road open. The showers outside in the bay area just in time for the afternoon commute will throw in the moraga area and st. Shut off just about 15 minutes ago but you can see the hole in the ground here and from what we have been hearing the water was spraying into the air a good two stories from the air. We saw a picture from the Water Department spokesperson that says this was quite serious initially. You can see the water is turned off. It was turned off about 15 minutes ago there is now a hole in the street. Were on the 3400 block here in the Strawberry Mansion neighborhood where i have been told i have just been talking with the Water Department and the water on this block has been turned off. Youre seeing video. A little bit of a Better Vantage Point of what is going on from above and the only real effect at this point is the water is turned off on this block. The Water Department is going to be back out here to assess the damage and figure out what happened here but everything is stra starting to wrap up. Now just a giant hole in the ground behind me. We have Live Team Coverage at the hardest hit areas, on how people are preparing for the next several days. Drew . Reporter dan, we are now seeing that storm start to end on shore, ending our period of dry weather and series of storms over the next several days. On top of the job tonight, you notice live doppler 7 right over the immediate bay area, we are dry at this moment. But just north of clover dale, north of ukiah, that is where the rain is located right now. Over the past three hours, showing you, this is just the initial line of moisture, heaviest impacts still about 12 to 18 hours away. On the storm impact scale, it is get you into wednesday. This is a moderate torm, starting off with ice and showers in the morning and really ramping up in the evening with heavy rain and very strong winds.
