AFTER the Philippines plunged in the world rankings, trailing behind other countries in key learning areas, such as Reading, Mathematics and Science, in 2023, the Department of Education in Central Visayas (DepEd 7) has introduced new learning strategies this year.
AN Education official reported positive feedback from students and teachers on the ongoing pilot testing of the new and revised K-10 (Matatag) curriculum, which aims to “decongest” the competencies of the current curriculum.
The K-10 or Matatag Curriculum has so far received positive feedback from students and teachers, who find it easier to deliver instruction due to the revisions, an education official said.
The K-12 program will persist and will not be abolished, said a local basic education official despite an order from the Commission on Higher Education (Ched) for state-run tertiary education institutions to discontinue the senior high school program.
