"fox and friends" hour one starts right now. goo morning, welcome in on this somber sunday morning on "fox and friends." tragedy at the racetrack. a race car driver dead after being hit by a car driven by a friend of the show, nascar champion tony stewart. watch this video. the rest of this video, so the crash happens right there. the rest of the video is too graphic to show. kevin ward, jr. reportedly thrown 50 feet down the dirt track during the race in upstate new york. >> he had gotten out of his car in apparent anger of being clipped and spun around by stewart. this is amateur video shot by a spectator. it shows stewart swerving but still hitting him. >> he was pronounced dead when he arrived at the hospital. steward has been questioned and released. full any cooperating with the authorities. the investigation is currently not a criminal matter. toe know stewart eats company releasing this statem t statement. a tragic accident took place last night during a sprint cup race in which tone sni stewart was participating in. tony was unhurt but a fellow competitor lost his life. a lot of questions this morning. we're asking anybody at the race last night to send us your video of the incident. >> that one piece of video seeming to define a lot of the you recall coverage. if you go through the writeups this morning and online. a lot of people are jumping to the conclusion that tony stewart did this on purpose. my reading of it is it's not so clear at all what happened. >> right. and the fact that was dark. look how dark it was. it's a dirt track. he's wearing a black suit in the darkness as he comes across the track. this is not common for a race car driver to run across the track. >> and that passion and fur very that's gotten to them where they're competing at that level, the same passion can get the best of you. whether you're the driver behind the heavy car that's speeding at huge miles per hour or also that same passion that gets you out of the car and come into oncoming the -- >> it's a dangerous place to walk around. >> it's dangerous place to walk around. you don't want to put blame on anybody this morning. it's a tragedy any way you look at it. >> some of the blame is happening because people fired up. here's a quote from a witness who was there. he was a friend of ward, the driver that was killed. >> i know tony could see him. i know how you can see out of these cars. when tony got close to him, he hit the throttle. when you hit a throttle on a sprint car the car sets sideways. the right rear tire hit kevin, he was stuck around the car if a second or two and then throw several yards. tony was trying to give the message that he wasn't happy e ne ther. he went over the line with it. >> law enforcement was present after the crash and it was normally more than what would be there in a normal accident. of course the sheriff coming forward and saying no criminal intent seems to be behind this. and it was dark. >> more on this morning because tony stewart set to race this morning. or this afternoon. we'll see if he does. >> we'll get more details from this and possibly more valnt tajs. the militants are still expanding their hold on that country. we're live in washington with the latest as the president says to prepare for a long fight. what does that mean? >> we don't know how long at this point. u.s. air trieks are taking out their targets in iraq but are they dealing much of a setback to isis, the terrorists army that's swallowed up much of syr syria. the president has made it clear that he will not put u.s. combat troops on the ground in iraq to battle isis, he's also laying the ground work for an extensive campaign. >> yo i don't think we're going to solve this problem in weeks. this is going to take some time. iraqi security forces, in order to mount an offensive and be able to operate effect tvly with the support of populations in sunni areas. >> and the u.s. continues to air drop food, water and others. the critics are pushing the white house to provide military assistance to the kurds to help in their fight. >> they have aq 47s to stand up to isis through weapons we provided to the iraqi army. let's send aid to the kurds now. >> now administration argues that much of this is going to hinge on the iraqi government in baghdad getting its own house in order. back to you guys in new york. you know, terror groups come and go. it's hard to know which ones will pose a threat to the u.s. but isis is one group that could stick around and be a problem for us here at home. >> one of the desperate factors with al qaeda, everyone is trying to figure out where the head of al qaeda is, is it in syria? >> a number of people feel te tearized. we don't know what of this is true. that's precisely the point, that they're able to create terror even through things that aren't true. the level of fare is ratcheted up. but there's a lot of cooperation among the mus lems across the board. mus lems are helping christians. it's not a mon lis tick thing. >> whether are the christians fleeing to. >> to erbil and baghdad. we're hearing continually about what they're undergoing. we got an e-mail this morning that andrew white is trying to buy back many of the girls that he says have been kidnapped from isis, buy them back from isis. so it's -- >> do christians in iraq feel like they can look to the u.s. government for support or help? >> you know, i's not something that i've heard a lot about, to be honest. i think that more than anything a lot of them have found a voice in the vatican and in other european countries. i'm not hearing negative things much about the american -- >> when christians look to the outside world to help them in iraq, they don't look to the u.s., is what you're saying? here to debate that are heather hanson and misty maran. does the prosecution have a leg to stand on? can they go after him again and charge him with murder? >> it is a law professors dream and a prosecutor's nightmare. there are so many hurdle to overcome, the idea of 33 years have passed. it used to be a year and a day. if they died within a year and a day, cow bring a case. if it was longer than that, you could not. because of the changes in medicine and science, most jurisdictions have expanded that. probably, if it was just on that issue, clayton, you could bring a case on this. >> double jeopardy. what and why, this will keep him out of the courtroom? >> double jeopardy is a huge hurdle. it prevents being tried for the same crime twice. granted, it is going to be a homicide charge as opposed to assault with intent to kill. the critical elements have been decided. they would be at issue in the homicide charge. so it is going to be precluded. remember, he was acquitted of the lessor crime. that's going to preclude a prosecutor from bringing this pursuant to double jeopardy. >> i think double jeopardy, because it is a different crime, i think they would overcome that hurdle. there is another hurdle which missy brings up. it is the same facts. after hinckley was found insane, they went crazy and changed insanity law to make it much more difficult to prove you are insane. if he was tried today, i don't think he would be acquitted under insanity. >> not to get all history on everyone but it reminds me of the james garfield assassination attempt. he lingered for months after charles cateau shot him. it took months for him to die. the law has evolved. how has it? >> in many ways. as heather referenced, it is because technology changed. people can stay alive for a lot longer. that's why the courts are dealing with these delayed death cases. 33 years. >> people are making a big fuss about this. the reality, reagan was shot during the assassination attempt. no one ruled his death a homicide. here is a connection. whether it is tenuous or not would be fought in the courts. there is a connection. that is something i think the prosecutors would be able to establish. >> he is still wondering around the streets. >> that's a problem. >> misty and heather, great to see you both. coming up here on the shows. it has been three years. she was found not guilty of murdering her daughter. where is casey anthony? you decide. fox friends hour 2 starts right now. welcome into "fox&friends" on this sunday morning. we are going to begin with fox news alert. tragedy at the tracks. a race car driver is dead after being hit by a car driven by nascar champion, tony stewart. the video will stop right before the incident. watch. >> so the rest of that video is too graphic to show. the driver right there, kevin war jr. reportedly thrown 50 feet down the dirt track. a split second later, he was hit by tony stewart's car. he got out of his car apparently furious after being spun by stewart's car. it shows stewart swerving and dragging him some distance. the 20-year-old was pronounced dead upon arriving in the hospital. stewart has been questioned and released, fully cooperating with authorities. the investigation is currently not a criminal matter, not a criminal matter. >> stuart haas racing, his co-owned company releasing a statement saying a tragic accident took place during a sprint car race in which tony stewart was participating. a fellow competitor lost his life. our thoughts and prayers go out to his family and friends. we're still attempting to sort through all the details and we appreciate your understanding during this difficult time. yet, people are rushing to judgment. coverage of this this morning is almost universal in reaching a conclusion that this was an intentional act. that this was a killing. you can judge for yourself. you can find the full video online. it is horrific. for whatever it is worth, i don't think it is at all clear that this was intentional. i don't think the video shows that. that's just one advantage. authorities are asking anybody that filmed this at the track to as soon as possible send in their videos. >> could tony stewart see him on the track? it was dark outside for one thing. also, you don't expect a driver to get out in the middle of all these cars coming toward them. a friend of the victim is speaking out. his name is tyler gray. he is a witness and saw the whole thing. he was sitting there. he said, i know tony could see him. i know how you can see out of these cars. when tony got close to him, he hit the throttle. when you hit a throttle, the car sets sideways. it set sidewayses. the right rear car hit kevin. kevin was sucked underneath and was stuck under it for a second or two and then it threw him about 50 yards. you never mean to do something like that. kevin was pissed and he let tony know. tony was trying to give the message back that he wasn't happy either. he went over the line with this. >> tony is a passionate racer. the rushing to judgment, that's what investigators are hoping not to do as they try to collect all of these different piecings of video. he is a passionate competitor. that doesn't mean he intentionally tried to hit someone. he is hit on this dark, dirt track in a black suit with all of that dust and debris and dirt being swung into the air. wearing a helmet too. you can imagine how limited your vision is to begin with. >> this is an awful story. these guys are very brave, obviously. standing in the middle of the track facing the wrong way isn't as scary to a sprint driver as it would be to the average person. it would be very risky thing to do. >> you mentioned being passionate. i remember interviewing joey logano after they had gotten into a shouting imagine. that is not anything new. here is the video of that and then logano ends up throwing a water bottle at him. they said he was acting like a little girl for doing that. the problem with a motor sport, if you're in baseball and you are going at it with a player and you are sliding into home, they might cleat him or do something awful but when you are behind the wheel of a race car, things are a little bit different. once again, this is not a criminal investigation at this point. >> if that changes, we will bring it to you. first, another fox news alert to bring you. the u.s. launching four new air strikes. they are still expanding their hold on that country. we are live in washington for the latest. the president says, no combat boots on the ground. doug? >> because it is political. on one side, the deal is, if we secure the border, then we can talk about comprehensive immigration reform. you have people misleading about how secure that border is. the obama administration is guilty of that saying the border is more secure than every. former homeland security secretary, janet napolitano repeatedly said that. we are showing we have a very violent criminal element, not just people from mexico. serious elements of terrorism. people from the middle east exploiting that border. we have a report that hundreds are using the open border to gain access to the united states. so you are right. it is a very serious problem. it seems like we are not so concerned about our borders but, instead, about things going on overseas when there is a very serious threat when it comes to crism and violent activity when it comes to what's crossing that border. let's not forget, in may, the administration, under immigration and customs enforcement, released 36,000 criminal aliens with serious records, including homicide, sexual assault and other assault. >> it is bizarre. we all agree the border wall in israel worked great. we paid for a lot of it and good for us but we can't have our own. >> we reached out to the department of homeland security but haven't heard back. it has been three years since she was found not guilty of murdering her daughter. where is casey anthony today? >> kell, casey is not necessarily in hiding. it is not like she is hiding behind draperies and doors. she is in a protected location where people don't know where she is. unfortunately, even today, there are still too many people that don't have any value in our constitution and want to reign in abuse of power and still try to accuse her of that which she has been acquitted of. she is afraid to go outside where people can confront her and continue to threaten her. >> you say she is living with a friend and doing clerical work for a job. you say that there are people out there who, you know, are not respecting our justice system. did our justice system work or did it fail in this instance? did casey anthony not murder caylee? do you believe the story that you painted for the jury? >> i have no question in my mind after 43 years of trying homicide cases she did not kill her daughter. the system did work. the jurors found her not guilty. they did it in a fairly quick time, about 11 hours of deliberation after two months of trial. the system works when the law is valued by our citizens. when people choose to ignore the constitution and just say, oh, well, i know better than the jury that heard the case, then those people need to go to school. >> you point your finger at people who think they do know better than the jury and you blame the media in a lot of respects. give us a couple of examples from things that you say the media sensationalized. >> from the very beginning of the investigation, the local media made it their business to have headline news every day on the case against casey and would make things up to make it look like she was obviously guilty. the people wanting to kowtow to the media did the same thing. we had the attorney general on the state of florida go on national tv to proclaim that the evidence against casey was overwhelming and she would be convicted. how outrageous and incompetent was that? she had no business doing that. it was unethical to do it. we had newscasts every day creating things that didn't happen. a local television show creating a picture of a heart-shaped sticker on duct tape that was never there. they took two different things and put them together. as the judge let an anthropologist do it in the trial separately. when people try to create the news rather than report on it. >> a lot of people did watch it unfold. they didn't just watch the commentary. they may disagree with you. you were right there and saw everything firsthand. >> you can read the book "justice in america." let us know what you think. did the justice system work and was the media and the prosecution conspiring against casey anthony? is it better than twister? >> i cannot believe "twister" was 18 years ago. i still have my original "twister" ticket stub. that cow scene in the original film is so iconic they pay ohmage to that in this film. you have a superstorm hitting a small town in oklahoma. it is all about the people trying to survive it. it is all documented. it is really cool to watch. the problem with this film is, you cannot go in expecting a good script. the script, the dialogue, the story and the acting are all absolutely horrible. it's one of those films where you just turn your brain off. you turn your brain off and have fun with it. it is 85 minutes long. the special effects are great. they use a lot of practical effects. they had a 145-mile-per-hour wind machine. they were flying people around on wires. i would give it a 3 out of 5. do not expect an academy award-winning script. it is fun to watch. >> you still have your ticket stub from "twister" do you still have your ninja turtle bed sheets? >> of course, i do. i had pajamas as a kid, bet shee sheets, everything. this movie is on track to make $65 million as a reboot of the franchise from the comic books. april o'neill played by megan fox in the film ends up with a turtle. the movie itself, again, not the greatest script on the planet. michael bay produced it. the movie itself is a lot of fun, specially if you are a fan of turtles and you grew up on them. i will give it one big criticism. i am a big fan of strong female-led action movies. they give megan fox a really good first half. she is a strong relentless female character and the second half, they turn her into a damsel in distress. i wanted more from her being awesome on camera. it is a fun movie to watch. i give it a 3 out of 5. a lot of parents are asking me, is it appropriate for children? "fox & friends" hour three starts right now. well, good morning. happy sunday morning. 8:00 on the east coast. we begin with a fox news alert, a shocking story. race car driver dead in new york state after being hit by a car driven by nascar champion tony stewart last night. >> the 20-year-old driver kevin ward jr. killed after getting out of his car, running over towards tony stewart's car as it was passing by. he had been trying to flag stewart down for clipping his race car and ending his race that night. >> new video shows ward's crew on the racetrack shortly after the accident. police say the investigation is not currently a criminal matter. not currently a criminal matter. according to stewart's manager, he'll be participating in a scheduled nascar event later today, despite the deadly event last night. nascar insider bob dillner just spoke to the team inside the nascar garage and joins us by phone with the very latest. thank you for being with us. >> no problem, good morning. >> what is the tone? what a tragedy. can't imagine the way tony stewart must be feeling this morning. >> tony stewart is an emotional guy. a lot of people think he's rough with his persona, but tony stewart is a guy that cares about racing and i'm sure, you know, definitely shaken by this. the crew this morning, they're in the garage area, they got it together inside their transporter this morning for the 14 team and i was told they were, you know, just issued exactly what happened last night and how they were to go about their day. and the car was uncovered. tony stewart's helmet was put on top, business as usual in terms of tony stewart will be in the car today. we have five races to go until we get to our playoffs. that's what we know this morning, the car is being prepared in the garage area, just walked out and spoke to some of the team members. >> to be clear, tony stewart is racing today? how could that be? are you sure that's going to happen? >> well, we're awaiting some official word from tony stewart. we do not know whether or not he's going to make an official statement here today. we're still waiting on the official statement and don't know if nascar is going to make one either. but all indications are team representatives, several of them, told me here today that tony stewart is planning to race inside his 14 car. >> you can imagine emotions pretty high right now. what is the mood like from the kevin ward side of things and his crew this morning. what are they saying? what are you hearing? >> there is a print car team. we have to remember that nascar is one thing, that's the big leagues of racing. that was a print car race last night held at the speedway in new york. unfortunately none of us here at this racetrack have been able to speak with any of the family or the crew members of that team. we all send out our thoughts and prayers because we're all united, we're one racing family. we're thinking of them this morning. unfortunate circumstance last night that led to all of this happening. and no word obviously from us here at nascar. >> unfortunate is probably an understatement, a man died. there has been a lot of allegations flying back and forth, you probably haven't had time to read about it online. but a lot of people alleging this was intentional. what do you know about what happened? >> well, i do know from speaking to several crew members that were at the racetrack last night that tony was running well and coming up through the field. he and kevin ward had an incident on the racetrack. kevin ward crashed. his car came to a stop. and he got out of the race car and was visibly upset. several people -- we have seen the video that was posted on youtube last night of what happened. and a horrific video. and he went to confront tony stewart as tony stewart was driving his car around the racetrack. and stewart's car hit ward. and that's what we do know. i spoke to crew members about it last night and that's what we know this morning. >> there is obviously some -- as tuck weaer was mentioning, ther some allegations flying fast and furiously. here is a quote from tyler graves, a witness there, he's a friend of ward's. i want to read this and get this response to it. i said i know tony could see him. i know how you can see out of these cars and when tony got close to him, he hit the throttle. when you hit a throttle on a sprint car, the car sets sideways. it set sideways. the right rear tire hit kevin. kevin was sucked underneath and was stuck under for a second or two and then was thrown for 50 yards. kevin was -- and let tony know. he went over the line with it. what do you make of that comment? >> i don't completely agree. and this is just my personal opinion. we have seen racers get aggravated and approach another car. and if you think about it, the person is coming at you and you're inside a race car, your first instinct is to get away. and that could be to turn left. and to hit the gas. and it is my belief that that was what tony stewart, nascar champion, was trying to do last night. he hit the gas, he turned left if you look at that video, and he was trying to get away from a driver that was visibly upset. and i do not believe that there was any intent whatsoever on the behalf of tony stewart. >> bob it a dangerous sport and all of us on the couch and people at home, most of us don't have experience knowing what it is like to maneuver a car like this. doesn't maneuver the way a normal compact car, suv or something that we're used to driving. so it is hard for us to relate to this. but there are some people who think that he didn't mean to kill him, but he meant to give him a little nudge and that's what we're getting on facebook and twitter and it is hard to think about anything that way. but it is a game of passion. we have seen tony stewart get passionate and get into a shoving match with other people like joey logano, we showed the video of that. you don't want to jump to any conclusions. there is no criminal investigation going on at this point. did he mean to do something? what is the stomach for a protracted military mission right now in iraq? >> well, you know, the president is in an interesting spot. on the one hand, there are a lot of republicans who think that he's not doing enough, he needs to get more involved, that this is just simply a contained isis and what the president should be involved in and u.s. air force should be involved in. it is actually rolling them back up. on the other hand, you have a lot of liberal democrats concerned exactly about the phrase you mentioned, open ended, because the president said this is not going to take weeks. it is going to take months. it is going to be, his words, a long-term project. they're concerned about that being an open ended commitment. >> i notice, chris, elizabeth warren, getting to your point about democrats, very liberal democratic senator from massachusetts, came out in support of the president's military efforts in iraq. is he hearing in public? have any democrats broken in public with him on this question? >> well, yeah. richard blumeblumenthal talked the open ended commitment. i think that is a concern, you know. we got out, and you hear talk also barbara lee, congresswoman from california talking about a slippery slope. it is not loud yet. remember, congress isn't even in washington, they're on their month long recess, but there is concern from the left about the idea of being involved in iraq at all. >> chris, who do you have coming up on the show today? >> i think that's an extreme example. i was thinking about it in my own life and how hard it is to balance everything between children and work. but the idea of raising a family in california and being a ceo in new york, the demanding schedule of those two concepts, it is almost impossible to be a dad and be a ceo in new york. >> woe is me. a ceo of a company, he can fly back on a private jet, woe is me. >> exactly. i really appreciate the point he's raising. being a parent is a full time job. and clearly being a ceo or any other -- anything else is a full time job, but he raised a great point but ceo to vp with all the new found time, has he fired his nanny or housekeeper, is he doing all the work around the house now? >> liz, will you be the only one that defends him? >> this is his choice. this is what he chose to do. he was in a position financially to do this. a lot of men don't have that fortune, good fortune, and don't have that option. they have to stay where they are because they need to provide for their family or for whatever it may be. i think it was had his choice, he decided to do this. i think we can't fault him for that. he decided to take a step down so he could be with his family more often and i think that again it was his decision and i guess him and his wife spoke about it and they figured out financially that they could do this. and i guess, again, it was his decision to do this. >> didn't mention what he was doing with his salary. >> exactly. take a pay cut. and, david, you know, as an attorney, busy guy, two kids at home. do you find you can't have it all? you can't have this life, this enjoyable life? >> constantly making decisions. there is meetings, important court dates, important things going on in my business life, but then the kids are just as important. and you have -- more important, and you have to balance the two. and constantly i'm compromising business to be there with my children. >> let's talk food. we talk food. as the chef here on the set, i have to get the take on the next story. americans eat breakfast alone 60% of the time and lunch, 55% of the time. we're increasingly eating alone. why? what is going on? >> we have got to stop and take the time. we have got to -- this is one of the rules in our house and this is something my wife who is, you know, amazing cook herself and is usually the one making dinner for us, because i'm at work, take the time at the end of the day, sit down, put all the devices away, connect. i think nowadays so many people are eating with their friends, on the computer, on their phones, and staring at a screen rather than connecting with the people around them. >> as a mom of three children, also my husband and i are both working, full time, we make a very conscious effort every sunday to figure out the week ahead. it sounds crazy. we sit down with our calendar and say this is the days of the week i'll be home with the kids or you'll be home with the kids, we know that. also breakfast time in our home, we make a conscious effort to eat breakfast together. tv is off, computer is down. mom, you're so mean, mom, you're such a witch, whatever it may be, i don't care, we need time to connect, time to be together. i get things out of them i would never get before and we're talking to each other and learning how to have a conversation as a family. >> i want to get your take on this, from the law side, you're used to dealing with ankle bracelets. >> not me personally. >> not you personally. i see this new ankle bracelet for babies called sproutling. is it making parents less accountable. it can measure all sorts of things. it tracks light, noise, temperature in the nursery, heart rate, sleep position. what about parenting? do we have to rely on these things? >> i hope it is not making parents less liable, but the bottom line is i'm in favor of all technology. i remember how nerve wracking it was to be the parent of a baby and being -- and running up to the room every few minutes, they were too quiet, not making any noises. i like the technology. i like as much information as possible. >> i worry about the parent who is going to roll over and check their smartphone instead of going and walking over to the crib and sticking their finger under their nose, are they still breathing. >> i may be guilty of this. these are things we did as parents. go touch your kid. how are they doing? here to discuss this, fox news religion contributor father jonathan morris. we have a gentleman who runs a christian aid group who lives full time in iraq on the show earlier. and tucker asked who were they looking to help from, the united states, europe, somewhere else in the world. and the gentleman said europe. you have an update on what pope francis has done. >> it has been fascinating to watch over the last six weeks. nobody is saying anything. we didn't hear anything from the white house for so long. we didn't hear anything from europe, to your point, for so long. and we say what is going to solve the issue? well, interestingly enough, as you brought up pope francis, he was talking for a long time about giving humanitarian aid, thank god we have begun to do that and president obama deserves credit for that, way too late, but he's begun to do it. but then pope francis also said and recently yesterday he sent out a tweet that said, the international community has a responsibility to protect the religious minorities in iraq. how do you protect against terrorists? well, you either expel them somehow, you either eliminate them somehow. or you hope they convert somehow. that's not happening very quickly. the last, the conversion part. how do you protect these religious communitys? the answer, i believe, at least in the short-term, is a safe haven, just like the kurds have really had a safe haven and protected themselves against people who would not -- who would wish they were not there. well, the christians right now, in their home land, where they have been for 1800 years, need a safe haven. not just an air strike here or there to stop the militants as they're advancing now. that's a huge commitment. >> we know you're not a military strategist. what should the united states response be in this situation? >> well, they should come up with a philosophy of governance. whether or not the united states of america believes that if they have the power to stop genocide, they will. >> but we don't want to act on behalf of christians. you saw the clinton administration act on behalf of muslims, right, bosnia, in the '90s. you see this white house issuing press releases about persecuting groups in africa. but nobody wants to say christians are being persecuted, we're going to help them. why is that? >> i'm not going to make a judgment of his intentions. i think we should be color blind, religious blind when it comes to genocide. we have to decide if genocide is worth stopping, well, we're not going to wait until social media, and this is what is happening, thank god it has done it, social media has pushed the governance of the united states of america to act now. way too late. but it has done that. now we have to decide what is our philosophy of governance, will we stand and watch genocide happen and that is happening right now. my twitter is @followjonathan. i had so many christians on there right now who are saying we have to create a safe haven. and our government needs to decide are we willing to do it? if so, and this is the most important question, why? >> could it be in kurdistan, do you think? >> it is very possible. why? because there is protection there. they have a whole history of protecting themselves against insurgents, against radical. i would love all the radicals, all the extremists to convert and to say we were wrong. if pope francis is saying we must protect them and he's not saying how. it is up to politicians to decide how. unfortunately sometimes you have to use force in order to stop people who are decided that they will kill you. >> and in order to get these politicians to move and act on this, is it up to us, is it up to christians. don't hit snooze on the snooze alarm. go to church. listen to your pastor hopefully from the pulpit in their sermon. they're going to be rallying christians to do the very thing, raising about this. >> absolutely. we have to pray, first of all, in my opinion. we have to pray. pray. i believe in the power of grace and the power of god. secondly, we need to get up and talk about it. we need to be on social media. we need to call our senators. we have to say, president obama, if it is worth sending air strikes in, is it worth actually deciding that you're going to do that for the sake of protection? >> when i looked at his eyes, he was under water and they were open and he wasn't breathing and his face was really dark blue and covered in an inch thick of white foam coming out of his nose and mouth. and my instinct was just to pick him up and bring him to the stand. >> how did you save him? and what happened from there, he ended up coughing up water and was oak. how did you know what to do. >> we gave him to my mom and my mom put him on the stand. and people were starting to talk about giving him cpr. but he didn't need anything, because he started breathing after about five minutes. and after a while, he did start coughing up water, there was still a lot of foam and his face was still dark blue. but he was breathing after that. >> is cash okay this morning, collette? >> yes, he is. he's actually here this morning inside his motor home. as he prepares that car, as soon as the -- the team had a little meeting to go over what did happen and to talk about what they need to accomplish here today, which is basically to preware that race car, about five or six minutes of that -- preparing it for tony stewart to race today. >> get us in the mind set of that team this morning, after killing this guy on the track last night. we know that he is trying to win the nascar championship. is that the mindset that if they bow out of today's race, they probably don't stand a chance of winning the championship. is that what's going through their mind at this hour ". >> i'm not exactly sure what's going through their mind, but they do have a job to do and that's what they're trying to do today. everything in the garage area is just shocked by what happened last night. but as far as the team goes, they all get paid to prepare a race and that's what they are doing. we don't know if tony stewart will make a comment. we do know that nascar made a statement saying they could not preclude tony stewart from racing today because this is not criminal. >> that is really surprising news. and thank you for bringing it to us. now, some people including friends of kevin ward who was killed are alleging that this was an intentional act, the two of them got into an altercation on the track and that tony stewart hit him on purpose. what is your response to that? >> it's my opinion working in motorsports for a long time. last night's event was a minor event. knowing tony stewart, i do not believe there was any intent whatsoever. basically what he was doing last night, obviously, he probably say ward coming across the racetrack and if you have something coming at you, your first instichkt. i do believe that's what the intend was for tony stewart and he was coming over to confront tony stewart. >> that makes sense. >> thanks for your insights, i appreciate it. >> thank you very much. all right, we have got another fox news alert this morning. the u.s. launching four air strikes on islamic militants in iraq, those militants are still progressing in an attempt to take over the country of iraq. >> good morning, doug, what can you tell us? >> these air strikes may end up being just kind of minor set backs for isis which seems to be getting more and more momentum. they are taking out isis targets who are said to be threatening an iraqi religious minority group. the u.s. is also air dropping food and water to help them survive and president obama is making it clear that this stepped up involvement in iraq could be a long term deal. >> i don't think we're going to solve this problem in weeks, if that's what you mean, i think this is going to take some time. you know, the iraqi security forces, in order to mount an offensive and be able to operate effectively with the support of populations in sunni areas. >> and isis remains on the move. the president has ruled out the use of u.s. come bat forces on the ground to take them on. >> even without boots on the ground, you've got to be definitive, you're out to defeat their command and control. third, it has to be very, very overwhelming. if it were up to me, i would be using b-52s in addition to the faa teams. >> the president is looking at a very limited mission here to prote protect the people in iraq. and for some other stories making headlines this suchbnday morning, we'll tell you about this. hundreds of passengers from jetblue, safely landed in new york city. the engine for the first plane they were on caught fire just minutes before taking off. everybody on board was forced to use the emergency slides to evacuate. three people were hurt during that evacuation. the cause of the fire is under investigation. a 17-year-old boy is under arrest this morning accused of murdering 6-year-old jan niece wright. she was found dead in the woods near her washington state home. the unnamed suspect lived in the same mobile home park as janice. a 9-year-old girl was bitten by a shark. this is the third shark bit in the last week on cocoa beach. >> i was here, she was here. i was right next to her. >> it was scary, that could have been me. >> rescuers saying the girl was very brave and is expected to be just fine. and check this out, mother nature providing the perfect backdrop for a couple's engagement photo shoot. look at this, the photographer snapping a shot the moment the lightning strikes, forgetting the perfect picture, the three ran out of there, saying the storm was getting a little too close for comfort. you think? >> you say grace, you turn off the tv. it's not happening so much anymore. >> no, it's dying. a new study out this week, shocking statistics about the way that 60% or americans admitted to eating alone for breakfast, 55% at lunch and 32% alone at dinner. >> people meals are dying because the family is dying. the elites decided that the patriarchy was evil and needed to be destroyed and this is the fruits of it. by the way, it's fine when you're rich and single and whatever, but it's terrible for kids. >> the seepage of gadgets into our life. >> the family doesn't exist in the way that you grew up with it. mom, dad, biological parents, dad sitting around the table, that's not the modern american family. it's depressing and it's bad for kids not to have a dad in the home. >> it's even worse for kids not to be able to have denver conversations or breakfast or lunch conversations, we know that the conversations that unfold around these food tables can increase the likelihood that your child will be successful in life. >> a lot of people are just staying single longer, so they're not starting families earlier, so they're not going to be having family meals together. which is not necessarily a problem. and me, i fit that bill. i don't see an issue. in fact the other thing is -- what, is that a problem? >> i'm glad that president obama is doing something, however belatedly, however small. these air strikes while they're helping the -- they're helping locally. there is nothing we're doing to stem the strategic tide, the strategic offensive islamist state has launched. and it is terrifying. and tucker, president obama always wants to get off on the cheap. he wants to do the minimum. and by doing the minimum in this case, the bare minimum, he sacrificed one of the great advantages military men have when they go to war or into a conflict. and that's surprise. if we were going to take on islamic state, and we're in it now, even with these few air strikes, you needed to hit them really, really hard and really fast and in depth. now with these pin prick air strikes, we have essentially warned them, gets under cover, disburse their vehicles, itself, that said, it's good that the president's doing something, to stop the threat, not only to iraq and syria, but to the united states and the world. it is a new kind of threat, tucker. >> so his actions suggest, that the president maybe, while concerned, doesn't really take isis seriously as a threat to the united states. should he? what are these guys and are they credible? >> terminology confuses us. they're called the islamic state, formerly i skrks is. but this has gone beyond islam, this is a new apocalyptic death cull. periods of cruelty, but at no time in the history of islam have they celebrated mass executions of unbelievers, even fellow muslims who don't measure up. the closest historic parallel to what we are seeing with with the islamic states, is thes a techs, the brace of this -- the astechs actually destroyed burns and manuscripts, but above all, slaughter s christians, other mine norths, shiia muslims and sunni muslims who don't measure up. this is a blood couple. and tucker, the liberal intelligence of which obama is the chief representative, the people that read the new yorker cartoons and think they're strategy squllists, i can tell i have tried to drive home to these people, the most addictive substance on earth is human blood. and islamic state is addicted to human blood, to these mass sacrifices. god, even the nazis didn't film public beheadings and broadcast them. this is stunning, it's something new, and we are doing virtualry nothing to stop it. it is a threat to america, it's a threat to the world, and again, it's beyond islamist, beyond any religion, it is a blood couple, a death cult. >> that's the most evocative description of have heard ever, of what these people do, i'm mesmerized and horrified. i appreciate you coming on this morning, with that perspective. >> up next, should parents teach their kids about gun safety or leave them in the dark. you'll meet families on both sides of this debate, that's coming up. plus, it's shark week, you knew that, we have real sharks on the plaza, stick around, no other show has real sharks, but we do. so what's this? how old were you when your father started teaching you about guns? >> i was about 5 when i started. >> were you scared then? >> no. >> what about you collette and your son. why not, i mean i come down on the side of knowledge is power, just about anything, and educating our kids on any subject matter is porveimportan. where do you fall on this debate? what information do you want to give your son? how important do you think it is. as a gun owning family as well. we have a huge responsibility to teach our children, and i say that also to nongun owning families, when you look at the amount of accidents that are happening across the country, we can't go a day without a child happening on an unsecured gun. so clearly we have a problem in this country with that. i believe in education, i believe in information, i believe in teaching him gun safety which has already started at the age of 5. what i am not a fan of, is indoctrination and i think there's a difference. >> what do you mean by that? what do you mean by indoctrination? >> we are gun owners, my husband was a hunter, he was raised with guns. i just don't feel that at 5, as you look at him, you can see, this is 5, this fidgets and the attention span and i don't think it's an appropriate age for my family to start educating him in the handling of a gun at age 5. education is important. you take owiyoga too. >> he's 5, you were 5 when you started. indoctrination, do you think that's what you were doing? >> not at all. in fact i'm glad you brought that up, because a lot of people forget that up through about the 1970s, firearm safety and education was pretty much standard curriculum in elementary schools throughout the country. and we did not have the accidents or the school shootings that we have seen in the last 20 years in this country. so i am firmly on your side that you brought up is, education is power, if you teach them, then there's not going to be that curiosity factor what does this do, and that's going to cut down on the accidents. >> what do your friends think about you being on the cover of a magazine? and the results are in, americans are fed up with the president and with the economy. those two facts may be tied together a new poll shows six in ten americans dissatisfied the economy, more than 70% believe the country is headed in the wrong direction. >> so what these numbers mean about the state of our economy. here's to discuss the host of sunday morning futures, maria bartiromo. do you feel like the cities economic policies are good or bad for job growth. >> they have not been prioritizing job growth. businesses really need an environment where they are going to be able to outlay money, outlay opportunities for people and that hasn't been the priority. if it was the priority, we would have seen keystone paths, we would have seen a lot of other things which are actually the low hanging fruit on the job. i think that's part of the poll, there was a debate on wall street this week, and people were saying, well, it's the after effects of the financial crisis 15 years ago. it's hard to make that claim today. these things really do last a long time. >> i wonder why. if you look at the polls, the job numbers track pretty precisely with presidential approval rating, why wouldn't the president make job creation his number one priority? >> i think he has a different priority, he has the priority of ensuring that the lower end of the income scale has money has stuff that they can, you know, benefits that they will feel a little alleviated, rather than giving them opportunities to work. >> rights, cutting regulation or enabling a business environment. 70% think the country is headed in the wrong direction, what is the thing that makes them feel that way? is it that they are out of work? is it that they don't see upward mobility for their family? what is it. >> i think it's a couple of things, number one, yes on jobs, if you are worried that you will loses your job, your neighbor will lose their job, you're worried about jobs, it keeps you in a stand still mode, in terms of not spending, not making long-term commitments. the same thing with business, if you're unclear about policies, about where your tax rates will be, what agency is overseeing you and what fees that includes, you're going to sit on cash. and you're going to wait until things get better, so i do think it's regulations, i was talking to alex sanchez, he's the head of the florida -- from dodd frank to epa to the affordable care act, to the fees arrange obama care, all of these things collectively have kept the banks in stand still mode, not investing in people and not hiring. i think it's jobs, and i think it's just the idea that we're not seeing much growth, you know, we had 4% gdp last quarter, but that was on top of the 2.1% contraction. again open questions, uncertainty and questions over jobs. alex sanchez is going to be on the show, who else? >> i would think so. >> right, and do you guys know how? >> they're the ones riding on a surf board. they're the ones scared running the opposite direction? >> sharks actually can pick up on the electrical waves that distressed fish can give off. they are electrical reskep fors all over their faces. if you look at these guys, they have little black dots all over their face and that's actually their electrorestep fors. >> humans giving off stress and anxiety, it actually wears off on other people. >> the next one is sharks need to eat all the time. >> fact or fiction, do sharks need to eat all the time?
