Two protesters were shot dead in South Africa on Monday during a demonstration against rising utility prices that was fired upon by police.

Two senior police officials in Mpumalanga have been implicated in the attempted murder and assault of a junior officer they allegedly tortured for four hours during an interrogation.

Sixteen law enforcement officers have been arrested for the death of a civilian due to alleged police action while he was in police custody.

The Independent Police Investigative Directorate have arrested 16 police officers and three security officers in connection with the murder of Ishmael Gama at Lenasia police station on April 1 2020.
