The U.S. Postal Service will hold a public input meeting Thursday to share results of its study on Columbias mail processing and distribution facility.

A review by USPS found that the Columbia facility should be modernized as a Local Processing Center.

The change likely means packages sent within Middle Georgia will be shipped up to Atlanta for processing and then back to Macon.

The United States Postal Service (USPS) will keep the Medford facility "open and modernized" following an extensive review, according to a news release from USPS.
