The National Weather Service says river levels will remain elevated over the next several days, bringing the potential of localized flooding to low-lying areas.

Our focus shifts from the isolated severe threat from earlier this afternoon, to now more of a heavy rain and localized flooding threat as storms continue to slowly pass through parts of north-central Illinois.

Your Local Weather Authority has issued a Weather Authority Alert Day starting at 2 p.m. on Thursday, July 27 that will expire at midnight on Saturday, July 29.

Isolated severe thunderstorms are possible again in North Carolina and Virginia on Friday afternoon. A few storms will move through during the morning.

The B.C. River Forecast Centre issued the advisory Thursday, warning of moderate to heavy rainfall Thursday evening and into Friday, and again on Sunday and into Monday.

Wednesday’s anticipated rainfall will come in addition to the 21 millimetres of precipitation the city saw early Tuesday, according to Environment Canada data.
