When the whole world was confined to their homes due to Coronavirus, the Lockdown Heroes drove the train and transported the necessary materials from one place to another. Headway Worcestershire at work supporting people with brain injuries A DEDICATED team of volunteers and staff at a brain injury charity in Kidderminster have been hailed as Lockdown Heroes for their hard work maintaining support to their clients during the pandemic. The team at Headway Worcestershire s Kidderminster branch, based in Whitehouse Road, have had to come up with new ways to support some of the most vulnerable people who have suffered brain injuries in Wyre Forest during the lockdowns. Volunteers and staff have been supporting clients on a one-to-one basis to ensure their health and wellbeing during the pandemic and have been nominated for our Lockdown Heroes award with Wyre Forest Rotary in recognition of their hard work.

Photo by Colin Hill KIDDERMINSTER S favourite social media personality Kiddy Lad has won a Lockdown Heroes award for his efforts organising a Santa sleigh tour to bring some festive joy to families during the pandemic. Adam Woodhouse, the man behind the comedy character, ordered a £90 Santa s suit from Amazon and took to the streets of Kidderminster and Stourport in his homemade sleigh every night for a week to ensure local children could see Father Christmas. The Christmas tour was supported by local businesses, who donated materials, sweets, a PA system, generator and a car to pull the sleigh, and by members of the Kiddy Lad team, including Laura Hood who dressed up as the Grinch.

Tony Thompson and his staff at Bewdley Farm Shop have worked incredibly long hours during the pandemic to deliver food to elderly and vulnerable customers who haven t been able to get out to the shop. Kay Wood, who nominated Bewdley Farm Shop, said: Tony and his team have been doing free delivery of fruit and vegetables since the beginning of lockdown. Their service is fantastic.
