Families have fought for recognition of the soldiers who died on Tiger Flight 739 for years now because their names aren’t allowed on the Vietnam Veterans Memorial since they didn’t die in a combat zone.

On Saturday, families of more than 20 fallen soldiers were on hand for the unveiling of a memorial to honor those who perished over the Pacific Ocean.

An Erie soldier and others killed almost 60 years ago in whats been called one of aviations greatest mysteries will be remembered during a ceremony in Maine on Saturday. Staff Sgt.
