LONGMEADOW, Mass. (AP) -- Two children suffered what were described as "burn-like injuries" after playing on slides that had been doused with acid at a Massachusetts park, authorities said.

Officials claim the morgue manager stole heads, brains, skin, bones and more, according to court documents.

Authorities said the perpetrators went through a "great deal of effort" to access muriatic acid, the corrosive chemical that was poured on the slides.

The vertical car was found with no driver or passengers around, police said.

Longmeadow officials announced the assistance of the F.B.I. and the Massachusetts State Police in the ongoing investigation of Bliss Park.

Two children in western Massachusetts were injured after playing on playground equipment that was doused with hydrochloric acid.

Police learned that an individual broke into a storage room at a park swimming pool, stole acid, and poured it on three slides.

Initial investigation revealed that a group broke into the pump room in the basement of the pool building at the park and stole the acid, which was later poured on the three slides.

The unknown hazardous material that was found on slides at a Massachusetts playground on Sunday has been identified.
