A 10-year-old boy had part of his leg amputated after being bitten by a shark while snorkeling on vacation in the Florida Keys, his family has said.

Jameson Reeder Jr. is recovering after what was believed to be an 8-foot bull shark attacked him while snorkeling near a reef in the Florida Keys, his family said.

The boy was snorkeling in the Florida Keys when the attack happened.

The shark bit the boy just below the knee, and his family pulled him into a boat and put a tourniquet just above the bite to stop the bleeding.
