The Pacific and the Gulf of Mexico are both influencing how the 2022 Atlantic hurricane season will shape up -- and scientists say it could be bumpy.

Colorado State University’s tropical meteorology team led by Phil Klotzbach has increased its forecast for activity in the 2022 Atlantic hurricane season, saying they now anticipate a “well above-average” hurricane season ahead also raising its landfall probability forecasts.

With the hurricane season now upon us, experts are saying 2022 could see another above-average year of activity. NOAA is predicting the possibility of three to six major hurricanes. There’s a lot of factors that can speak to the severity of the season and intensity of these hurricanes, including and not limited to, the ongoing La Niña conditions, climate change and the Loop Current.
