Work by Milton artist Anne Buck available at auction through May 15

Painting represents Delaware’s part in fundraising for historic fire impacts May 12, 2021 Milton Arts Guild artist Anne Buck submitted her “Watch Tower” painting for the Ashes to Art auction to benefit Colorado fire departments affected by the 2020 wildfires. Anne Buck, an award-winning watercolor painter and member of Milton Arts Guild, has submitted a painting to Ashes to Art, an online auction that benefits Colorado fire departments devastated by the historic fires of 2020. Artists from all 50 states are represented in the auction. Buck’s work, “Watch Tower,” represents Delaware’s participation in Ashes to Art. The 2021 Ashes to Art Project, co-founded by Lori Joseph and Tim O’Hara, solicited various forms of art – ranging from paintings to jewelry to sculptures – to be sold in an online auction for charity. Each piece of artwork must incorporate charcoal from the actual wildfires in some way.

Art Project Rises From The Ashes of Colorado's Worst Wildfire, Again

Photographer Tim O Hara is one of the founders of the Ashes to Art project. In 2012, the High Park Fire west of Fort Collins burned more than 87,000 acres. At the time it was the state’s largest wildfire, destroying 259 homes and claiming one life. Eight years later, the Cameron Peak Fire burned more than twice as much land, becoming the largest in Colorado history. During both events, one local program sifted through the ashes to create art and help firefighters. Tim O’Hara has been a commercial photographer in Colorado for years, a career spent capturing images of beauty. But when the High Park Fire began practically in his own backyard, O’Hara and his colleague, photo stylist Lori Joseph, witnessed images that were hard to look at.

Art made from ashes of state's largest wildfire auctioned off to support first responders

Art made from ashes of state’s largest wildfire auctioned off to support first responders LARIMER COUNTY, Colo. (KRDO) The Cameron Peak fire, west of Fort Collins, became the largest fire in Colorado s history last summer. It took 112 days before the fire became 100% contained. While the flames may be out, the destruction and ashes remain. However, a Northern Colorado man is turning some of those ashes into art. Tim O Hara and Lori Joseph founded the Ashes to Art Project in 2012 as a way for the creative community to support the first responders battling wildfires across Colorado. Nearly a year since the devastating Cameron Peak fire, O Hara s garage is filled with paintings, sculptures, drawings, and pieces of jewelry created from the ashes.
