The Taste of Galesburg will take to Simmons Street this evening will plenty of food, fun, and tunes for the family to enjoy. The summertime event features 20 local restaurants and great-tasting food for attendees to try out and maybe find their new favorite dish from or find their new favorite spot in town. After two years off because of the COVID-19 pandemic, the Taste of Galesburg will see restaurants lining up Simmons between Prairie and Seminary Streets and handing out some of the dishes they're best known for, as well as a few specials for the Taste. Kraig Boynton, one of the Taste's organizers, tells WGIL that each year the Taste supports a non-profit, and this year they're supporting the Loving Bottoms Diaper Bank. "We also try to support a 501(c)(3) [not-for-profit] every year, so we have a raffle and that raffle this year is going to benefit Loving Bottoms Diaper Bank. GALESBURG Hy-Vee, Inc., in partnership with Loving Bottoms Diaper Bank and Hello Bello, is participating in the April Showers of Diapers Drive through the end of April. The Diaper Drive includes fundraising efforts at select Hy-Vee store locations where customers can donate at checkout by “rounding up” their purchase, which will provide diapers for families in need throughout West Central Illinois. “Diaper drives are vital to our operations and have become increasingly critical in supplying products to our clients,” said Lee Ann Porter, founder and executive director of Loving Bottoms Diaper Bank. “When caregivers stand in the diaper aisle they are quickly reminded of the compounding expense of diapers with each trip to the grocery store.
