The small northern B.C. community of Lower Post is dealing with a number of COVID-19 cases, and local officials are asking visitors to stay away.

A COVID-19 outbreak has been declared in a unit of the Whistle Bend Place long-term care facility in Whitehorse after one case was detected. The situation “is contained and routine management outbreak procedures are in place.”

As Yukon medical officials continue to report new COVID-19 cases daily, some First Nations are expressing serious anxieties about the pending relaxations in rules. Officials reported nine new confirmed cases on Friday.
