"You can never have enough offensive linemen."

New Bears offensive lineman Alex Leatherwood was at Halas Hall for his first day of practice with the Bears today.

He sees himself as a tackle who is playing guard. The team seems clear that it wants him at guard. And making the roster doesn’t end any uncertainty about his fit with the Bears.

Jones, a fifth-round pick from Southern Utah, is expected to start the regular-season opener against the 49ers. Jenkins has established himself at right guard after moving there on Aug. 15 — though trade rumors persist.

Offensive coordinator Luke Getsy isnt ready to name his starting line yet but definitely had a lot of praise for Teven Jenkins while rumors of  a trade swirled.

The Bears’ initial 53-man roster includes just 22 of the 77 players the new general manager inherited from Ryan Pace when he was hired in January — with 13 rookies making the team.

Another NFL insider reports on the Chicago Bears trading offensive lineman Teven Jenkins ahead of Tuesday's roster cut-down.

Justin Fields was sharp in his final preseason game, throwing three touchdown passes and leading scoring drives of 80, 52, and 62 yards.

Analysis: Of course 3-0 in preseason for the first time since 1994 means nothing now, but there are other reasons to be worried about whats ahead for the Bears.

Clearly in a work-in-progress stage, Fields and Luke Getsy’s offense are more about work than progress at this point. They need all the snaps they can get.
