Greek Businessman Thanassis Lavidas of Lavipharm Dies Aged 73

Ευρωκίνηση 5/9/2021 ATHENS Businessman Thanassis Lavidas, a majority stockholder of Greek pharmaceuticals Lavipharm, died Saturday aged 73. He assumed the helm of the family company in 1976, and served as member of the Hellenic Federation of Enterprises (SEV) board for 12 years. Lavidas also chaired the Greece-US Business Council, and had been recognized by France as a Chevalier of the Legion of Honor in 2011 for promoting dialogue between nations and for the collaboration across the Mediterranean basin countries, especially between Greece and France. He was also member of Boston-based biotechnology ARIAD s board, which trades on Nasdaq in New York. Lavidas had Bachelor and Master s degrees in chemistry from Ludwig Maximillian University of Munich, an MBA from Paris-based Institut Supérieur du Marketing et du Management, and a PhD in pharmaceutical chemistry from the University of Athens.
