A junior official at health department administration boss Dr Rolene Wagner’s East London office accused of procurement irregularities, with her case being one of those probed by the Public Service Commission (PSC), has been fingered as the culprit behind Wagner’s recent failure to honour a meeting with the PSC last week.
Failure by a staff member to hand over a summons to appear before the PSC could land health department HOD Rolene Wagner in jail. The Public Service Commission (PSC) is investigating 12 cases relating to alleged irregularities at the provincial health department and has lodged a criminal complaint of contempt against Wagner for failing to appear before the commission after being summonsed last week.
Public service commission officials assessing the quality of service rendered by Eastern Cape hospitals were met by reports of snakes inside laundromats, dilapidated infrastructure and no detergent to wash hospital linen. Eastern Cape commissioner Lulu Sizani inspected the laundry at St Barnabas hospital in Libode on Tuesday, accompanied by employment and labour department officials.
