Farmers across India are watching with horror as their cattle collapse across fields, infected with the deadly lumpy skin disease. Rajasthan is the worst-affected state where, since July, over 50,000 cattle have died.

The lumpy skin disease has been rapidly spreading among cattle in eight states of India. Over 67,000 cattle have died due to the disease since July, prompting a massive vaccination drive.

Over 21,000 cattle are infected with the virus in J&K. Authorities impose a ban on transporting bovine animals from one district to another.

Farmers are annoyed over the casual approach being adopted by the authorities in dealing with the situation. Hundreds of cattle are suffering from this viral in J&K.

Rajasthan Lumpy disease outbreak: The nine districts from where cattle deaths have been reported are Barmer, Jalore, Jodhpur, Bikaner, Pali, Ganganagar, Nagaur, Siorhi and Jaisalmer.

Animal husbandry department officials said that the infection has spread among nearly 25,000 cattle in a span of three months.
