All of the senators got to sign the little book, which seems like a yearbook ritual or something. They had to pledge that they will be impartial. Theyre now sitting at impartial jurors. The beginning of the trial comes after basically a monthlong pause was put on the process engineered by speaker of the house nancy pelosi. Remember, the house voted to impeach donald trump for abuse of power and obstruction of congress way back on december 18th, and then Speaker Pelosi basically said, im not sending them

Speaker nancy pelosi named seven house members as impeachment managers. Those are the folks that will act as prosecutors. They are adam schiff, jefferies of new york, jason crow of colorado and Sylvia Garcia of texas.
