81 Arrested During Mardi Gras Week, Bowie County Sheriff's Report

Congratulations Bowie County, you have outdone yourself during Mardi Gras week, although that's not necessarily a good thing. One would think that Fat Tuesday would have been the busiest night, but one would be wrong. Thursday was hopping this past week for some reason. Our Bowie County Sheriff's Deputies stayed busy all last week as they processed 81 arrests from around the County, 27 of those brought in by BCSO, while 54 were turned over by other area law enforcement agencies in Bowi...

Letter: Don't accept it without questioning it - Medicine Hat NewsMedicine Hat News

Dear editor, After reading Lynn Thacker’s March 26 letter in the News, I could see many readers saying, “climate change is a hoax, as a ‘highly respected MIT scientist’ says so.” How many readers, however, would bother to check Dr. Richard Lindzen’s credentials? I did, and when the second source on the search was titled “Climate Misinformation by Source – Richard Lindzen,” it immediately caught my attention. After further reading, I found that Dr. Lindzen is frequently describ...

Letter: Should there be limits on expression in public spaces? - Medicine Hat NewsMedicine Hat News

Letter: Should there be limits on expression in public spaces? Poll Yes Dear editor, Cash Moore’s Jan. 21 opinion piece starts off with, and Lynn Thacker’s letter underscores, a reasonable point. If privately held sites are acting as town halls they should not have the freedom to arbitrarily curtail certain voices. Does this mean, though, that they should never employ restrictions? Mr. Moore avoids that question. In order to skirt it, he mislabels the events of Jan. 6 as a protest. Many att...

Letter: Freedom of speech for all - Medicine Hat NewsMedicine Hat News

Letter: Freedom of speech for all Poll Too strict Dear editor, I enjoyed Mr. Moore’s article as well, but apparently for totally different reasons than Mr. Mueller claims to. Cash Moore’s fear is that powerful, unbridled, monopolistic tech giants like Twitter, Facebook and Google now have the power to stifle the political news and views of half the population as they clearly did in the latest U.S. election. Totalitarian governments have always attempted to suppress free speech for their ben...
