Flugzeuge der Bundeswehr sind auf dem Weg in die afghanische Hauptstadt Kabul. Auf dem Flughafen herrscht Chaos. Am Sonntagabend ist es dort laut einem Bericht zu einem Angriff der Taliban gekommen.

Wird es ein Rennen gegen die Zeit? Die Bundeswehr soll deutsche Staatsbürger und Ortskräfte aus Kabul vor den Taliban retten. Es wird der bislang wohl größte Einsatz dieser Art. Die Soldaten wissen nicht, was sie in der afghanischen Hauptstadt erwartet.
