As soon as acting Prime Minister Adel Abdul Mahdi announced his intention to resign, antigovernment demonstrators practically threw a party. The Stunning Development came a day after more than 50 people were killed by Security Forces in one of the bloodiest days of violence since the protests erupted in early october. It was just over a year ago that abdul madhi was appointed as a consensus candidate. Throughout the streets on friday, cheering, singing, even dancing. Optimism on full display.
