In the first public interview of Madison superintendent candidates Tuesday afternoon, students shined a spotlight on marginalized groups and the district’s achievement gap.
The list of criteria used in the search for a new Madison superintendent does not require a track record of actually improving education or improving test scores.
In-person interviews with Yvonne Stokes, Mohammed Choudhury and Joe Gothard on Tuesday will be livestreamed and open to the public. The district also welcomes public feedback.
A former Maryland state school official who worked with Mohammed Choudhury says he ‘almost fell out of [his] chair’ when he saw Choudhury as a finalist for Madison’s top schools post.
The finalists will be interviewed in person on Feb. 6 by panels of students, parents and caregivers. The public can watch via livestream and submit feedback to the board.
