In a significant ruling, a magistrate's court has directed a businessman to pay Rs 50,000 as monthly interim maintenance to his 55-year-old estranged wife. The decision came as the court acknowledged the role of pets in filling emotional voids caused by broken relationships., Mumbai News, Times Now
The court said that the dogs are necessary for her emotional support. The woman, who filed the case against her husband of 34 years, is entirely dependent upon her husband for survival and undergoes economic violence. Despite the husband claiming business losses and disputing his wife s allegations, the court recognized the woman s emotional and financial responsibility to her pets, thereby ordering the monthly support payment.
The couple was married in 2007 and the events continued till 2011. The woman alleged cruelty against her husband as well as his brother, sister and mother.
