Maharashtra SSC Exams 2021 for Class 10 students has been cancelled amid the rise in coronavirus cases in the state and nation. Announcing the decision via a tweet, state Education Minister Varsha Gaikwad said that health and safety of teachers and students is of utmost priority.
"Given the worsening situation of the #Covid-19 pandemic, the Maharashtra government has now decided to CANCEL the state board exams for class 10th. The health and safety of our students and teachers is our topmost priority," Gaikwad tweeted.

MUMBAI: The HSC (Class XII) and SSC (Class X) board examinations in Maharashtra have been postponed to May and June respectively, school education minister, Varsha Gaikwad announced on Monday.
Gaikwad made the announcement after consultation with state chief minister, Uddhav Thackeray. In a video message, Gaikwad said, "Covid-19 cases have been on the rise for the past few days. There has been stress about preparing for the exams and the pandemic affecting the health of the stakeholders. The safety of the stakeholders is our utmost priority and hence have decided to postpone the board exams. The SSC exam is likely to be conducted in June and the HSC exams could be scheduled at the end of May so that a student's higher education is not impacted." The HSC and SSC exams were slated to begin on April 23 and 29.
Class 12th exams will be held by the end of May, while 10th standard exams will be in June. Fresh dates will be announced accordingly, says education minister Varsha Gaikwad

The education department officials are finalizing a plan for the upcoming board exams which includes a proposal to postpone it. The probability of board exams getting postponed is high as the cases of coronavirus in the state is increasing rapidly.
Maharashtra's school education minister Varsha Gaikwad told TOI, âI canât say anything at this moment but, yes, a final decision will be taken this week itself. I will meet with various stakeholders and see what their views are about exams. Then we will have to seek the consent from chief ministerâs office (CMO) as well regarding the final proposal.â

The Maharashtra school education department is mulling over postponing Class 10 Secondary School Certificate (SSC) and Class 12 Higher Secondary Certificate (HSC) board offline examinations amidst a surge in COVID-19 cases in the state, said sources from the department.
A meeting to discuss a plan for SSC and HSC board exams and, to finalise the roadmap for exams of Classes 9 and 11 students was conducted on Tuesday by Varsha Gaikwad, state school education minister with all the stakeholders. A senior official of the state school education department said, "We will conduct a discussion with the Chief Minister (CM) of Maharashtra Uddhav Thackeray regarding postponement of SSC and HSC board offline examinations."

The written examinations of HSC (Class 12) and SSC (Class 10) conducted by the Maharashtra education board will be held between April 23 and May 21 this year, an official said on Saturday.
While the Higher Secondary Certificate (HSC) exam will be conducted between April 23 and May 21, the Secondary School Certificate (SSC) exam will be held between April 29 and May 20, Ashok Bhosale, secretary of the Maharashtra State Board of Secondary and Higher Secondary Education (MSBSHSE) said.
These board exams are usually held in February and March, but this year their schedule has been changed due to the COVID-19 pandemic.
