Mon, Dec 21, 2020, 11:12 am SL Time, ColomboPage News Desk, Sri Lanka. Dec 21, Colombo: President Gotabhaya Rajapaksa has instructed the Irrigation Department to take steps to expedite the construction of irrigation schemes currently under construction.
Accordingly, the Irrigation Department stated that it will monitor the construction work of projects in the Anuradhapura, Ampara, Hambantota, Puttalam and Kurunegala districts and after identify the shortcomings will expedite the construction work.
Arrangements have been made to complete the construction of the Kalugal Oya Reservoir Project in the Ampara District as soon as possible.
The proposed reservoir will be built by constructing a 300 meter long dam across the Kalugal Oya which flows near the Bandaraduwa village in the Uhana Divisional Secretariat Division in the Ampara District of the Eastern Province.
