A police complaint accusing Fiji s Attorney General Aiyaz Sayed-Khaiyum of two cold-case bombings in 1987 has been dismissed by the country s Director of Public Prosecutions (DPP).
The DPP found there was insufficient credible or reliable evidence to charge Mr Sayed-Khaiyum over the attacks.
A complaint was filed in June by Veronica Malani, the daughter of a former Government minister, who was a victim one of the bombings.
She told police she saw Mr Sayed-Khaiyum throw a bomb at her family home, injuring her and her mother.
Ms Malani s brother also gave a statement to police, accusing the Attorney General of a separate attack on his family around the same time.
The water bottling industry in Fiji wants a tax-free status like other industries and says it is working on the compensation it needs from the government.
Jay Dayal, industry spokesman, said the industry also wants the government to help in marketing incentives and subsidise tax-free imports. “That way, the industry would be able to generate more foreign revenue for the country”, he said.
Dayal said they were trying to figure out what levels were paid to the water industry in other countries before making their own demands. “We are working on some form of compensation we are expecting from the Government.”
