A CONSULTATION on plans to transform the education system in Ilminster and Crewkerne ends next week. And so this week is the last chance for the public to have their say on the proposals, which will see a new structure of primary schools and secondary schools, instead of first schools, middle schools and upper schools. But parents and headteachers are not happy about the plans – saying they will have a “detrimental impact” on all the schools in the system. The current plans were drawn up after years of debates between schools, academy trusts and Somerset County Council (SCC). The only thing they seem to agree on is that the three tier system is not sustainable.
