The PS4 has received a brand new update, the console now runs on version 8.50. There’s some new features implemented in the update, but also the removal of the popular Communities feature.
The latest PlayStation 4 update enables cross-generation Share Play, meaning that those on a PlayStation 5 Console can share play their games with friends on PlayStation 4. In short, this means it is now possible to play PS5 games on a PS4.
The PlayStation 4 wasn’t the only Sony console to receive a big update. The PlayStation 5 has just received its first major update since its release. You can read more about it at the link below.

Sony has now released a new system update for the PS4 console. This arrives around the same day and time that a big PS5 system update is also available.
The new 8.50 PS4 system update should be rolling out today for all users. The size of the firmware is only around 481 MB. With that size, it shouldn’t take users too much time to download and install it.

Invites for the PlayStation 4 System Software update 8.50 beta have started going out, providing the first details on the next update.
As reported by Mp1st, the 8.50 beta update introduces a few quality of life improvements, such as the option to turn notifications on and off for each group a user is in and removes PlayStation Communities.
Main Features in This System Software Beta
In messages, you can now turn notifications on/off for each of the groups you’re in. On the group screen, open then options menu and select “Turn Notifications Off”.

The latest PlayStation 4 update is rolling out in beta to the lucky few who have signed up to test it. According to patch notes obtained by MP1st, Sony will be removing PlayStation Communities from the console, as well as making a few other quality of life improvements.
PS4 Beta update 8.50 is otherwise known as the System Software Beta Testing Spring 2021 update. As well as the removal of communities, the update makes changes to group notifications, joining game sessions, and the visibility of hidden games. You can check out the full patch notes below:
