1,000 Go To Travel coupons worth $9,600 stolen from central Japan hotel

The Shizuoka Prefectural Police headquarters (Mainichi/Haruka Takaba) SHIZUOKA One-thousand coupons for the central government s Go To Travel subsidy campaign with a value of 1 million yen ($9,600), which were meant to be given to guests, were stolen from a hotel in the resort city of Shimoda, southwest of Tokyo, police announced on Dec. 14. According to Shizuoka Prefectural Police s Shimoda Police Station, the coupons were placed in an office on the first floor of the Kurofune Hotel. They were in two bundles of 500 and the hotel had not yet marked their expiry dates.
