Emily Lin – The Conversation

A native of Philadelphia, Emily Lin moved to Merced in 2003 to join a team of founding librarians building the twenty-first century research library at the University of California, Merced, and to manage an Institute of Museum and Library Services National Leadership Grant to digitize art collections from the Clark Center for Japanese Art and Culture in Hanford, CA. That project, “Opening the Cultural Corridor,” laid the groundwork for the library’s collaborations with other partners to digitize significant research collections for broader access. Recent partnerships include a National Endowment for the Humanities grant to digitize over 160,000 pages from the archives of UCSF Library, SFPL, and GLBT Historical Society documenting the Bay Area’s response to the AIDS epidemic; digitizing historic reports and photographs from Yosemite National Park; and a National Historical Publications and Records Commission (NHPRC) Major Initiatives grant to archive and digitize the records o
