Entertainment by Wenlei Ma 29th Jan 2021 3:12 PM Just because February is a truncated month doesn t mean there s not way too much new stuff landing on the many, many streaming platforms on offer. First up, don t forget that Disney+ is launching its Star expansion on February 23 with hundreds of new movies and TV shows - and you can find the full list of all those titles over here. For every other streamer, we ve picked out some (OK, many) highlights, while the full tables are below.
The End (
Foxtel Now, February 2): Death is never an easy subject, but this Australian dramedy meets it front on. Starring Harriet Walter and Frances O Connor, the darkly funny and poignant series is the story of a Gold Coast woman who brings her English mother to Australia in an end-of-life clash.

The Academy is a tough nut to crack in a regular year trying to crystal ball what unexpected movie will catch their eye and which critically lauded contenders will be left out in the cold, to say the least of predicting who will win their little gold man come the big night but this year should prove especially interesting.
Last year s Oscars ceremony was barely in the rearview mirror when COVID-19 descended on Hollywood and beyond, forcing the industry at large to temporarily grind to a halt and awards bodies to reconsider plans for their forthcoming awards season. Still, it will take more than a global pandemic to stop the Oscars.

Netflix adds a couple dozen movies to the service this month, including the new Netflix film “Malcolm & Marie,” starring John David Washington and Zendaya.
That movie was filmed during the COVID-19 pandemic. As such, “Malcolm & Marie” is a “bottle episode” of sorts, with the two leads mostly just hanging in a house together. The plot focuses on a couple talking about past relationships in their nice home. You can watch the trailer below.
Netflix also adds a few movies from the recent past, including “Shutter Island” and “War Dogs.” Seemingly more than a month late, the service brings ”National Lampoon’s Christmas Vacation” to its offerings on Feb. 1.
