Life’s a Pitch returns at lunchtime today for the first time since March 2020 (BBC Radio Suffolk, midday to 2pm) and features interviews with Town CEO Mark Ashton and former goalkeeper-coach Malcolm Webster. Host Mark Murphy will also be joined by legend-in-residence Terry Butcher, Tractor Boy and TWTDs Phil Ham.

TWTD understands that former Town keeper Richard Wright is training with the Blues at Playford Road. The 33-year-old was released by Sheffield United at the end of the season and is currently looking for a new club.

German TWTD reader Torsten Hase says keeper Simon Jentzsch would be a very good signing for the Blues and that Wolfsburg would be more than willing to allow him to leave. Early today, TWTD reported that German sources were linking the 32-year-old with a move to Portman Road.

TWTD understands that James Hollman will be announced as Towns new goalkeeper-coach in the next few days. The 30-year-old has already taken up his post and was with the squad during last weeks training camp at Loughborough.

Towns new goalkeeping coach Andy Rhodes says he is thoroughly impressed with the Blues facilities. The 39-year-old has taken over from Malcolm Webster who has joined George Burley at Derby County.

Trialist keeper Eldin Jakupović has impressed boss Paul Jewell since joining up with the Blues for pre-season. The 27-year-old Bosnian-born former Swiss international is a free agent having left Greek club Aris, one of Town’s 1981 UEFA Cup opponents, at the end of last season.

Former Town keeper Richard Wright has spent a few days training with the Town squad ahead of Arsenals pre-season beginning next week. The former Town keeper, who still has a house locally, wanted to get a headstart as he prepares for his second season with the Gunners.

George Burley said this afternoon that Richard Wright had passed his Arsenal medical and that the deal should be complete in the next 24 hours.

Ex-Town keeper-coach Malcolm Webster says the support he’s received from his former Portman Road colleagues and from throughout football has meant a lot, the 71-year-old having recently been diagnosed with prostate cancer.

Former Town goalkeeper-coach Malcolm Webster has confirmed that he would like a return to Portman Road and a possible reunion with Richard Wright. The 57-year-old is currently with Southampton and started pre-season training with the Saints last Thursday.
