LISBON – Joseph Messenger, 28, of Hanoverton was found guilty of both endangering children and assault by the Common Pleas Court jury on Thursday morning.
Messenger had been accused of recklessly causing the bathtub scalding injuries to his daughter, who was 7 in October of 2019. The jury heard two days of testimony before deliberating for about three hours total beginning late Wednesday afternoon and after returning on Thursday morning.
Following the verdict, Assistant County Prosecutor Tammie Riley Jones requested Judge Scott Washam consider revoking Messenger’s bond and he be taken into custody pending sentencing. Washam instead increased Messenger’s bond from $50,000 to $100,000 personal recognizance.
