Southeast Asian countries are taking a more business-friendly approach to regulating artificial intelligence (AI) compared to the European Union (EU). The Association of Southeast Asian Nations (ASEAN) has drafted a "guide to AI ethics and governance," which asks companies to consider cultural differences and does not prescribe risk categories.

Artificial Intelligence: In contrast to the EUs AI Act, the ASEAN "AI guide" asks companies to take countries cultural differences into consideration and doesnt prescribe unacceptable risk categories, according to the current version reviewed. Like all ASEAN policies, it is voluntary and is meant to guide domestic regulations.
