Intuitive India joins hands with prominent government medical institutions to upskill next gen surgeons; Starts Intuitive Robotic Onboarding Program and Education (I-ROPE)

Share New Delhi: Intuitive India, the India arm of Intuitive Surgical, a global technology leader in minimally invasive care and the pioneer of robotic-assisted surgery (RAS), has recently collaborated with top government medical instituitions in India as a part of their initiative to expose next generation surgeons to Robotic-Assisted Surgery.   Intuitive India together with AIIMS Delhi, has developed this educational program called the Intuitive Robotic Onboarding Program and Education (I-ROPE). Through this initiative, Intuitive aims to familiarize resident surgeons with robotic assisted surgery, its technology, clinical applications and its benefits. Currently, Intuitive is driving this program in renowned government medical instituitions in the country, which includes the likes of AIIMS Delhi, AIIMS Bhubaneswar, Dr. Ram Manohar Lohya hospital- Delhi and Armed forces medical college- Pune.

AIIMS: Largest batch of AIIMS resident surgeons to learn basics of robotic surgery

Synopsis In the largest such initiative so far, a group of 70 young surgeons specialising in oncology at the premier medical science institute in New Delhi are learning the basics of robot-assisted surgeries in a new two-month course. Agencies The high cost of a robotic installation – the latest one at AIIMS costed close to $2 million – was one of the reasons why this technology has been out of reach for most in the country. Young surgeons at the All India Institute of Medical Sciences are being acquainted with Da Vinci. Not the great 15th century artist Leonardo Da Vinci but a robot made by California-based Intuitive Surgical to assist in surgeries.
