INS Talwar is the first vessel under the Samudra Setu-II operation which embarked from Bahrain to reach New Mangaluru Port at 1.30pm on Wednesday.
MANGALURU: The New Mangaluru Port Trust (NMPT) handled the first naval vessel INS Talwar, which was carrying 40MT of liquid medical oxygen (LMO) under the Samudra Setu-II operation launched by the Indian Navy.
Upon its arrival, the vessel was given the highest priority berthing in the port, at berth No. 7.
The LMO is donated by the Kingdom of Bahrain to the Indian Red Cross Society, as a token of goodwill to overcome the current pandemic situation.

MANGALURU: The tourism department to introduce a seaplane to connect coastal Karnataka with neighbouring states for promoting tourism in the state.
Minister for tourism, environment and ecology C P Yogeeshwara said that a proposal in this regard will be submitted to the central government soon.
The tourism department has plans to give a major fillip to health tourism, temple tourism and beach tourism in coastal Karnataka, by providing infrastructure under a special tourism package, Yogeeshwara said at an interaction with journalists organised by the Dakshina Kannada District Working Journalists Association, here on Saturday.
