DOST-PCHRD Executive Director Dr. Jaime C. Montoya noted that the Philippines had participated in the WHO Solidarity Treatment Trial of four repurposed antiviral drugs Remdesivir, Hydroxychloroquine, Lopinavir, and Interferon beta-1a.
“Natapos na po ang ating participation sa WHO Solidarity Treatment Trial at tiningnan po ang apat na repurposed drugs kung sila ay makakatulong sa mga pasyenteng may COVID 19 kaya lang po base sa datos at analysis ng WHO dun sa mga datos na nakuha from the Philippines at sa ibang bansa ay mukhang wala po sa apat na repurposed drugs na ito ang makakatulong (Our participation in the WHO Solidarity Treatment Trial has ended and we have looked at four repurposed drugs if they can help patients with COVID 19, but based on WHO data and analysis of data obtained from the Philippines and other countries it seems that none of these four repurposed drugs can help),” he said during the Laging Handa briefing.

DOH Undersecretary Maria Rosario Vergeire said that putting COVID-19 vaccines and food items in the same storage equipment is “not right.”
“That is not in any way part of the protocols of the Department of Health and even the national government,” she said.
“The vaccines should have a separate storage. It should not be mixed with the food kung meron man tayo (if we have),” she added.
Vergeire said that some vaccine brands require at least two to eight degrees Celsius storage temperature, which is the temperature of a regular refrigerator.

“Hindi po kami sang-ayon sa ganiyang pagpapalakad o kaya magkakaroon tayo ng ganiyang proseso (We do not agree with such kind of move or process),” said DOH Undersecretary Maria Rosario Vergeire on Friday, May 14.
“Sa ngayon po even if you are fully vaccinated, or completed two doses, kailangan pa rin magpatupad ng minimum health protocols, at ang sinasabi na vaccine pass ay hindi pa rin mairerekomenda ng ating Kagawaran ng Kalusugan (Right now, even if you are fully vaccinated, or completed two doses, minimum health protocols still need to be implemented. The so-called vaccine pass is not recommended by the DOH),” she added.
