Jan-May dengue cases 6% lower than 2021

MANILA - The number of dengue cases reported from January 1 to May 7 this year is 6 percent lower compared to the figures in the same period last year. In a statement, the Department of Health (DOH) said its Epidemiology Bureau (EB) recorded 25,268 dengue cases from January 1 to May 7 this year, lower than the 27,010 cases during the same period in 2021. The weekly dengue case counts this year were also significantly lower, except from March 20 to April 30 or morbidity weeks 12 to 17. The dengue cases reported during those weeks reached 11,435 or 94 percent higher than the 5,901cases reported during the same period in 2021. Regions 2, 7, 8, 9, 10, 11, Bangsamoro Autonomous Region of Muslim Mindanao (BARMM), and Cordillera Administrative Region (CAR) are the areas contributing to the increase in dengue cases in the recent morbidity weeks.
