president has done over the last several years. almost talking in a more aggressive tone the way donald trump sort of has done successfully. rubio is trying to do a little bit of both. as i talked to one voter here, who said he s sort of like a toned down trump. to some extent he s having some success. he has more events throughout the state, trying to show himself as a different kind of republican but also a very hawkish republican on national security issues. something he believes differentiates himself from one of his chief rivals here in the state, ted cruz. trying to resonate with voters, manu. we go to athena jones. with jeb bush, he s really trying to position himself more as sort of the candidate who is reflective and representative of the republican party. more conservative than some others who are running. what s he saying? what s his message now? reporter: hi, deb. that s right. he s trying to say that he is
reporter: how much do you want to sell for it? i want six for it. reporter: 600? yeah. reporter: if you buy a gun from someone dealing in firearms, federal government requires background checks. and that s what s happening here. the information is then fed into computers before customers are allowed to buy their guns. police are present to arrest people when the computer checks indicate criminal violation, but the private dealers are not legally required to conduct background checks. i would ask you for a virginia driver s license. that way i know you re from within the state. reporter: but if i gave you a fake virginia driver s license, you would never know? i would have no idea. reporter: would you trust me? do i have an honest face? i would trust you. reporter: but that being said, sometimes if you don t think someone has honest face, you get a bad vibe, you don t sell it? you have to go with your gut competition. this is an sd smith and wesson, 40 caliber.
kuwait just recalled their ambassador to iran and became the latest country to side with saudi arabia in an escalating crisis that s threatening to further destabilize the middle east. tensions date back centuries but the intensifying situation erupted over the weekend after saudis executed an outspoken shiite cleric along with 40 accused terrorists. irania iranians retaliated by torching the embassy. fred fliken is with with us and nic robertson is live in saudi arabia. the saudis are also cutting flights and economic ties to iran. reporter: they are. this is an escalation and the sense that i get from talking to saudi officials here is this is not going to ease off any time in the near future. diplomatically there s a lot of international pressure to do this. there s the importance of the syria talks coming up.
celebrated around the world. that this is just the first of the victories to come. here in ramadi, night falls, more rescued families escape. this little girl can t stop crying. for her, for now, all that matters is she s safe. there are hundreds of families just like the ones we showed you there, deb, still trapped inside ramadi. and it is dangerous. it is painstaking. it is slow. but iraqi forces are trying to bring out as many as they can whenever they can. it s just remarkable to see the images, the bodies, the families who weathered this time in ramadi. it s almost has to have the feeling of a ghost town, doesn t it, as you drive through there, nima? reporter: absolutely. some kind of abandoned, haunted,
the hammonds have turned themselves in. it s time for you to leave our community. reporter: and the hammonds are the father and son ranchers from around here who are indicted on arson charges and serving the rest of their sentence. they have distanced themselves from protesters here, saying they don t support this move to take over this complex of buildings on the remote malheur reserve. back to you. paul, it s just so interesting to see this group, these armed activists kind of walking around. you say you haven t seen any firearms, per se. but they re just walking around. it s almost like they re visiting this wildlife refuge, not taking it or occupying it under siege conditions. they say they re ready, prepared and willing to wait it out. it s very cold where you are. we see that. of course, we ll be following this much more as the days progress. paul, thank you so much.
