Chennai: In a good move, a dedicated 24 7 helpline number 14420 has been launched by the Union Ministery of Housing and Urban Affairs to register a complaint against the sewage workers cleaning sewage systems without wearing masks or not following other safety norms like wearing belts or gloves.
The 24 7 helpline number is an extension of the Safaimitra Suraksha Challenge launched by the ministry earlier in a bid to mechanize the sewer and septic tank cleaning process in the country.
