US May CPI inflation is the main dish today. Consensus expects a 0.1% M/M headline increase with the Y/Y-figure declining further from 4.9% to 4.1% mainly driven by energy and base effects. These will continue to play a role in June as well. Core inflation is expected to rise by 0.4% M/M and 5.2% Y/Y (from 5.5% Y/Y).

"We haven't seen any clear signs yet of credit conditions tightening," New York Fed boss John Williams said even Americans told the bank they're feeling a squeeze.

The Fed is now allowing just shy of $100 billion per month in bonds it owns to expire and not be replaced.

As far as financial markets are concerned, a green Christmas is better than anything Bing Crosby could have crooned about.
