Yasin Malik, JKLF chief, opened fire at IAF personnel in Srinagar on January 25, 1990. The eyewitness, former IAF corporal Rajwar Umeshwar Singh, identified Malik as the main shooter in the court. Malik, who is currently in Tihar Jail, was charged along with five others for the killing of the IAF personnel. Senior Public Prosecutor Monika Kohli stated that the eyewitness identification is an important development in the case.
“He had pulled out his gun after lifting the ‘pheran’ and opened fire on us,” Rajwar Umeshwar Singh, formerly an IAF corporal, told the Terrorist and Disruptive Activities (Prevention) Act (TADA) court while pointing to Malik, who appeared in court via video link from Tihar Jail in Delhi.
