PANAMA CITY Two Bay County Sheriff s deputies recently helped save the life of one of their own.
Deputies Howard Alexander and Marc Dexter have been credited with saving the life of Deputy James Hines after he had a possible heart attack on Dec. 21.
Alexander, who has been a deputy for 18 years, had just been relieved from his duty at the Bay County Courthouse when he noticed a vehicle that had stopped in the middle of the road at an angle. The vehicle was located on Business 98 between Spring Avenue and East Avenue heading eastbound. I stopped to check out the vehicle because I thought it was a drunk person passed out in the middle of the road, Alexander said. I beat on the windows to get him to come to and talk to me, but I got nothing from him. I tried opening the doors, but couldn t get the doors open.
