A federal rule taking effect Jan. 1 was intended to stop abuses by pharmacy benefit managers, but some pharmacists say it's making things worse.

Four independent pharmacies in the Philadelphia area made the holidays brighter for parents in search of hard-to-find children’s Motrin. Marc Ost of Eric’s Rx Shoppe said that instead of increasing the price because it’s so hard to get, the pharmacies decided to give out a few cases to customers in need – for free. “The response we have got has been amazing,” Ost said.

KANSAS CITY, Mo. (Oct. 2, 2022) – Marc Ost, co-owner of Eric’s RX Shoppe in Horsham, Pa., has received the 2022 NARD Ownership Award from the National Community Pharmacists Association Foundation as part of NCPA’s Annual Convention, which was held Oct. 1-4.

Eric’s Rx Shoppe in Horsham, Pa., was honored with Upper Dublin Township’s Outstanding Community Business. Since 2020, Eric’s Rx Shoppe has coordinated ongoing efforts to provide the community and schools with access to COVID-19 testing, vaccines, and pertinent health information. The pharmacy established onsite vaccine clinics within the Upper Dublin School District and at numerous area school districts as well.
