Born on Feb. 6, 1959, in Waiblingen, Germany, Hans Peter Gilgasch was adopted by an American service couple, the late SMSgt. Marcellus Alexander Sr. and Sgt. Helen (Ault) Alexander, who raised him as their only son and gave him the name Marcellus Jr. The family lived in France until they were stationed back in the United States in 1964, when Marcellus Jr. became a naturalized U.S. citizen. On Jan. 27, 1978, he was united in marriage to Judy K Cornell, his loving and devoted wife of over 43 years.
