In between them were incumbent Burg (4,030) and new board member Versey (4,004), who edged out incumbent Marcos Guevara (3,810) and Katie Checolinski (3,674), as well as Domagalski.
Laster, a former teacher and coach, told the Sheboygan Press before the election that the biggest change he'd like to see in the district is to improve the heating and ventilation systems so children can breathe cleaner air.

Turnout in the the city was 28% Tuesday, compared to 22% in 2017 when John Belanger challenged Mike Vandersteen for the job of mayor.
Vandersteen beat Belanger with 3,952 votes to Belanger’s 1,678.
Tuesday's election showed increased interest in the mayor's race compared to 2017, with Ryan Sorenson securing 4,417 votes over Vandersteen's 3,113. That's 1,900 more votes cast in the mayor's race than in 2017.
The 7,530 votes cast in Tuesday's mayor's race were comparable to the number of votes cast in the 2013 mayor's race, which saw 7,921 votes. In that race, Vandersteen beat Terry Van Akkeren 4,059 votes to 3,862.

The six candidates are: Santino Laster (a former teacher and coach), Sheboygan Police Chief Christopher Domagalski, incumbents Marcos Guevara and Ryan Burg and two parents running on a shared goal of always having in-person learning five days a week as an option for families, Katie Checolinski and Rebecca M. Versey.
On March 11, the candidates will appear in a virtual forum at 6 p.m., airing live on WSCS platforms, including YouTube, Facebook, Spectrum Channel 990 and AT&T U-Verse Channel 99. The forum is co-sponsored by the Sheboygan Branch American Association of University Women and the Sheboygan Diversity, Equity, Inclusion, and Belonging Initiative.
