Town will be looking to win three league games in a row for the first time since the end of the 2008/09 season when Sheffield United visit Portman Road on Saturday. Manager Paul Jewell will hope his side’s growing confidence will see them to a victory over the struggling Blades.

Town defender John McGreal picked up his fifth booking of the season in last nights 1-0 win against Fulham. He now faces a one match ban, the first Town player to face one this season.

As expected Marcus Bent has claimed last nights winner, despite suggestions that it might already have been over the line before he got his touch at the far post. Alun Armstrongs effort had been deflected over keeper Edwin Van Der Sar across the Fulham goal.

Marcus Bent has become the sixth ex-Town player on the books at Charlton after completing his £2.5 million switch from Everton. The striker joins up with former team-mates Darren Bent, Darren Ambrose, Matt Holland and Hermann Hreidarsson as well as Dean Kiely, who was on loan with the Blues in 1989.

Out-of-favour Blues striker Tamás Priskin is a £250,000 target of Millwall, according to reports in Hungary. The 25-year-old, who is also interesting Russian second division leaders Alania Vladikavkaz, is out of contract at the end of the season.

Town are not expecting any players to exit the club during the January transfer window. However, boss Joe Royle admits that a player might leave should someone make Town an offer they couldnt refuse.

Started in 1994, ToffeeWeb is the longest-running, most comprehensive and up-to-date Everton FC website around with a thriving community of Blues. The site provides an independent forum delivering unparalleled coverage of one of Englands greatest football clubs to a global audience.

Towns miserable run of 15 games without a Premiership win came to an end as goals from Finidi George and Alun Armstrong deservedly beat ten-man Tottenham. George Burley will hope that this first victory since the Derby game in August will finally bump-start Towns Premiership season. With Southampton losing at Manchester United Town are now just four points from safety.

Town manager Joe Royle has included Jim Magilton in his squad despite the midfielder having missed training this week with a groin problem. Tommy Miller also missed training today but is still likely to be OK for the visit to Fratton Park on Saturday.

It has emerged that Marcus Bent passed his Town medical last night, prior to watching the fantastic 1-0 win over Inter Milan.
