ATHENS, TN - Janet “Ruth” Rice, 73, of Athens, passed away Monday March 8, 2021 at NHC Health Care in Athens, TN. She was a native of Washington County, and was a long-time resident of Jonesborough, TN and was daughter to the late Roy and Marie Blankenship. She was a member of Bethesda United Methodist Church and graduate of Lamar High School. She retired from Alliance Data Systems in Johnson City, TN. She was preceded in death by her daughter Kristi Dawn Rice and nephew Justin Blankenship. She is survived by her son, Jeff and Tiffany Rice; step-grandchildren, Gage and Sydnee Duncan; a brother and sister-in-law, Larry and Myra Blankenship; a nephew and spouse, Matt and Angie Blankenship; niece and spouse, Larae and Phil Graves; and several great nieces and one great nephew.

Vivian Pauline McDonald of Coleman, left this earth to be with her heavenly father on January 1, 2021 at the age of 84 years and 4 months.  She passed at Holiday Hill Nursing Home.  Graveside service will be 2:00 p.m. Tuesday, January 5, 2021 at the Coleman City Cemetery Pavilion with Bro. Don Harmes, pastor of Community Baptist Church, officiating.  Burial will be in the Coleman City Cemetery.  The service will be live-streamed at www.livingmemorials.com/obituary/VivianPauline-McDonald.  Services are entrusted to Stevens Funeral Home, Coleman. She was born Vivian Pauline McDonald on August 30, 1936 in Trent to William McDonald, Jr. and Estella May Blankenship McDonald.  At an early age, her family moved to Coleman, where she graduated from Coleman High School and also attended college.  She worked at the furniture store when she got out of school.  She followed in her daddy’s footsteps and worked at the ASCS government office in Coleman for over 30 years, until her retir

Grand jury returns indictments Staff Report GALLIPOLIS Prosecuting Attorney Jason D. Holdren announces that the Gallia County Grand Jury met and handed down indictments in October, November, and December of 2020. The following individuals were indicted: October Matthew Edward Day, age 20, of Crown City, Ohio, one count of Grand Theft of a Motor Vehicle, a felony of the fourth degree; and one count of Receiving Stolen Property, a felony of the fourth degree. Richard M. Wade, Jr., age 35, of Detroit, Michigan, one count of Having Weapons While Under Disability, a felony of the third degree; one count of Receiving Stolen Property, a felony of the fourth degree; and one count of Improper Handling of a Firearm in a Motor Vehicle, a felony of the fourth degree.
